Get To Know Us
We are a Religious organization in Papua New Guinea who believe in Jesus Christ and follow Him through his written Word - The Holy Bible. We observe the seventh day of the week - Saturday as a day of worship. (Genesis 2:2-3, Exodus 20:8-11).
The Seventh-day Adventist Church has been in Papua New Guinea for 118 years since its entrance in 1908. It has contributed immensely to the nation's development through evangelism, education and health. With more than 600,000 members, worshiping in 1339 organized churches and more than 3,205 company churches in 9 local missions and 1 local conference.
Seventh-day Adventist Church is one of the fastest growing Christian denominations in Papua New Guinea. The mission of the Church is biblically mandated to call all people to become disciples of Jesus Christ, to proclaim the everlasting gospel embraced by the three angels’ messages of Revelation 14: 6-12, and to prepare the world for his soon return.
The church is making a paradigm shift that is missionally focused and culturally relevant through the incorporation of teamwork and cross-pollination of shared knowledge in its Strategic Plan. The Church in PNG aimed to be a thriving Adventist movement in PNG and abroad.
The four strategic directions for PNGUM are Mission, Service, People & Culture and Wholistic Sustainable Empowerment. These are our intentional efforts to continue in the ministry and grow in the love of Jesus Christ.
